Features: The original manuscript of Collected Essentials of Anhui Governance was a handwritten copy, compiled under the leadership of Feng Xiu in the late years of the Xuantong period of the Qing Dynasty and edited by Chen Shili as the chief compiler. Due to the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the project was interrupted in funding. The chief compiler, Chen Shili, financed the copying of the manuscript into 100 volumes, encompassing major political, economic, military, and cultural events of late Qing Anhui in a single volume. It is considered a highly valuable cultural heritage in modern Anhui history, providing official historical records of late Qing Anhui in terms of politics, economy, military, and culture for the study of modern Anhui and even China. The entire work is divided into ten categories according to the new official system of the late Qing Dynasty, with the data spanning from the early years of the Guangxu period to the 34th year of Guangxu (1908). A small amount of data extends to the early Qing Dynasty and concludes in the late years of the Xuantong period, the final year of the Qing Dynasty. The content is rich and the data is precious. Among these, five categories do not follow the old historical record system, and both in content and form, they were newly created for that time.
