Features: Faced with the increasingly severe eutrophication of water environments, the Chinese government has taken active measures, investing heavily in water pollution control in the "Three Rivers" and "Three Lakes" basins, achieving some results. However, due to the accumulation of historical debts, old issues remain unresolved while new ones arise, leading to weakened governance and severe damage to aquatic ecosystems. The total discharge of major pollutants far exceeds the environmental carrying capacity, excessive exploitation and utilization of water resources, coupled with outdated treatment technologies, have not only failed to alleviate eutrophication but have instead made it increasingly severe. For this reason, several years ago, some experts referred to algal blooms as "ecological cancer," "incurable diseases," and "worldwide challenges," viewing the of algal blooms in eutrophic waters as a daunting task. Even today, they still believe it will take decades or even a century to resolve the issue, casting a pessimistic shadow over the vibrant land of China. This book outlines the impact of blue algae on human health during water use, it also covers the risk management and prevention measures related to blue algae and their toxins in drinking and recreational water. The book also provides an overview of the key knowledge and current status in the planning and design of source water monitoring and supply research, and describes the application methods and procedures.
