Features: What we see in the Etruscan relics is another form of cosmic consciousness, the wisdom of the Earth, and the survival insights of people who lived differently from us. These are remnants of an ancient, more intuitive human consciousness tide, left behind during the ebb and flow. Clearly, our history originates from the end of an equally great civilization, not from a barbaric or human childhood, not from the civilization of primitive cave dwellers and lake dwellers. It reminds one of an ancient proverb: Every part of the body, every part of the soul should know religion and maintain contact with the divine. What you see here is the sensitive rhythm of life and the fleeting yet eternal innocence that only the Etruscans understood. Behind their vitality lies a religion of life, a concept of the universe and the group of humanity within it, which enables one to live by utilizing the deepest potential. A powerful, unique, and flowing life force runs through them, unlike the hollow life force of today. It seems they drew life energy from a deeper place, while we are excluded. They had an extremely valuable world of knowledge, which has completely vanished from the modern world.
In March and April 1927, driven by a love for ancient cultural art, Lawrence traveled with his friend Earl Brewster to the ancient Etruscan sites in central-southern Italy for an archaeological and artistic journey. He meticulously examined the numerous murals, sarcophagi in Etruscan tombs in Volterra, Seveteri, Tarquinia, and Volterra, as well as the vast Etruscan relics preserved in local and Florence museums. He conducted a detailed, profound, and unique analysis of Etruscan culture, religion, and national characteristics, particularly offering an enchanting description of the beauty of Etruscan art. From this, he proposed the unique historical concept that modern human civilization did not evolve from barbarism or infancy, but rather transitioned from one civilization to another, and from one cosmic perspective to another.
This book is a work of archaeology filled with unique insights and wisdom, as well as a beautifully written and deeply moving prose, imbued with the author's love for the vibrant, elegant, passionate, and romantic Etruscans and their cultural art, as well as his appreciation for the unique consciousness and wisdom of prehistoric people.
