Features: In the current fervor of art-related entrance exams, a rising category has emerged—broadcast and film television. This book primarily introduces the "behind-the-scenes" disciplines of film and television schools, including screenwriting, directing, cinematography, production, and film production, as well as related and adjacent fields. For convenience, let's temporarily refer to them as the "screenwriting-directing-cinematography-production" category. These disciplines have distinct divisions of labor, but their entrance exam formats are fundamentally similar. They all require interviews and written tests, with interviews including "self-introductions" and "answering examiner questions," and written tests covering "film analysis" and "answering questions." Moreover, candidates can usually apply for multiple disciplines, so they are discussed together here. Here are a few important points to declare:
First, the exam formats of different schools and disciplines vary, and they change almost every year. This book does not and cannot cover everything; students should adjust and supplement based on the exam guidelines of each school that year. This book does not represent any specific school or discipline but is a general overview of this category.
Second, art-related entrance exams strongly emphasize candidates' comprehensive qualities, artistic sensitivity, creativity, and the ability to understand and express. These qualities are developed through long-term cultivation, training, and accumulation, not through "focusing on key points" or rote memorization. This book is not a "magic formula" but only introduces basic guidelines for the exam formats. The examples provided are for illustration and not model answers; they should be applied flexibly rather than copied directly.
Third, this book includes extensive materials, but it is not an exam scope and certainly not a guarantee that everything will be tested. The section on "literary and artistic knowledge" is quite lengthy, yet many institutions no longer conduct separate "literary and artistic knowledge" written exams in recent years. Considering its significant reference value, it has been published separately as Literary and Artistic Knowledge. Among its chapters, Television and Shooting and Editing with the Camera are key review points. Please use this book in conjunction with Literary and Artistic Knowledge.
Fourth, the chapters On Writing Stories from Film Analysis and On Writing Post-Viewing Reflections were written by Yi Pei. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the book's compilation and publication.
