Features: The selected works in China's Annual Lyric Anthology include both those that have already been set to music and those that have not. Most of them remain unsung. Transforming lyrics into songs is a process with varying durations—short as a few days or months, or long as several years or decades. Lyrics with vitality can continue to inspire composers even decades later, proving the artistic value of lyric writing. Editing and publishing this anthology serves three purposes: First, to showcase the outstanding lyric creations of the year, contributing to the cultural heritage of our nation. Second, to help lyrics that have yet to find musical partners connect with composers, hoping to earn the recognition of talented musicians and give them wings of music. Third, to provide music literature enthusiasts and readers with an opportunity to enjoy the latest and finest lyric creations at a low cost and in a short time. This is our original intention and aspiration.
After completing the annual anthology, we have both joy and concerns. The joy lies in the fact that, through the hard work of lyricists, many excellent works have been produced this year, and a new batch of emerging talents has been discovered. Although their works may still be somewhat raw, they shine brightly and inspire hope. The continuous emergence of new talents in the lyric field is a source of encouragement, which is why each year, a selection of their works is included in the anthology.
