Features: If you find Germany on the European map and look north, you will discover a peninsula called Jutland. It is bordered by the North Sea to the west and the Baltic Sea, along with a group of more than 400 islands, to the east. The Jutland Peninsula and all these small islands together form a country that is both small and breathtakingly beautiful in Europe—the Kingdom of Denmark. A statue of the Little Mermaid stands in Copenhagen Harbor, greeting visitors from all directions. Hans Christian Andersen (1805–1875) created this character 165 years ago. Today, the statue welcomes people to this land of fairy tales while also paying homage to Denmark's most famous writer.
