Features: This book is one of the learning guides for the "Higher Vocational Education Series Textbooks" for higher vocational and higher technical education (the series was awarded the title of "Beijing Higher Education Excellent Textbook" in 2004). It serves as a supplementary guide for the main textbook "Higher Education" (Second Edition). The book is structured according to the nine chapters of the main textbook: Functions, Limits, and Continuity; Derivatives and Differentiation; Mean Value Theorems and Applications of Derivatives; Indefinite Integrals; Definite Integrals and Their Applications; Differential Equations; Vector Algebra and Space Analytic Geometry; Multivariable Calculus; and Infinite Series. It is designed to complement the second edition of the main textbook and should be used concurrently. Each chapter of the new guide is organized into four sections: teaching requirements, content summary and problem-solving guidance, selected solutions to textbook exercises, and self-assessment questions with reference answers.
Teaching requirements specify the key knowledge points students should master and understand. The content summary provides hints on key content and easily confused concepts. Problem-solving guidance teaches mathematical thinking methods through typical examples, reveals problem-solving patterns, and identifies common mistakes made by beginners through comments and explanations in the examples, helping students deepen their understanding of classroom content and strengthen foundational training while improving problem-solving skills. Selected solutions to textbook exercises analyze and solve difficult problems that students may encounter in the main textbook. Self-assessment questions are provided with appropriate difficulty levels to allow students to assess their understanding of basic knowledge and problem-solving abilities. Reference answers to self-assessment questions are included for reference.
The new guide has been rewritten to enhance the explanation of fundamental concepts and the inclusion of typical examples, emphasizing the summarization and generalization of problem-solving approaches to help readers achieve a comprehensive understanding, apply knowledge flexibly, and solve problems creatively. This book can serve as a supplementary textbook or reference for students of higher vocational and higher technical education studying "Higher Education." It is also an excellent self-study resource for self-examination candidates and enthusiasts of mathematics.
