Features: The history of foreign legal systems is one of the most fundamental subjects in the entire legal knowledge system. Its content involves the events, institutions, norms, principles, and actual operational states of the development and evolution of legal culture in major foreign countries during various historical periods. Throughout human history, the evolution and development of foreign legal systems have played a very important role in the civilization and progress of human society, and their experiences and lessons are worth serious summarization and reference. Therefore, many universities in our country have included the history of foreign legal systems in their undergraduate legal education as required courses. Given the fundamental nature and knowledge system of the history of foreign legal systems course itself, if modern legal education does not include it in the required curriculum for undergraduate legal education, then it cannot be considered a complete undergraduate legal education. To meet the needs of undergraduate legal education, we have organized teachers from universities such as Southwest University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest University for Nationalities, and Hunan Normal University to write this textbook. Guided by the basic theory of Marxism, this textbook summarizes the authors' many years of teaching experience and absorbs the latest academic achievements from both domestic and foreign sources, making it relatively innovative.
