Features: With the implementation of the new curriculum plan, research-based learning has been presented to us as a brand-new compulsory course. This is a highlight of the newly promulgated and implemented mathematics teaching syllabus, as well as a new opportunity and challenge for mathematics education in the 21st century. Research-based learning primarily refers to an in-depth exploration of certain mathematical problems or the study of certain problems in daily life and other disciplines from a mathematical perspective, fully reflecting students' autonomous and collaborative activities. Due to its significant differences from the learning of traditional subject courses, research-based learning is no longer a carrier of a pre-designed specific knowledge system by experts, but rather a process of jointly exploring new knowledge by teachers and students. This is also a brand-new topic for high school mathematics teachers, one worthy of our joint research and discussion. This book provides an initial introduction to the theoretical research on the significance, characteristics, and methods of research-based learning in mathematics, with a focus on discussing and researching high school mathematics research-based learning in two aspects and five themes. Starting from the two aspects of solving internal mathematical problems and applying mathematical knowledge, ten representative mathematical topics in secondary school teaching and thirteen topics in mathematical applications have been selected. Each topic includes background information, case studies of research projects, topic recommendations, research suggestions, and research-based practices, conducting comprehensive research on each issue from its connotation to its extension. Through the study of this book, we hope students can master the research-based learning method and select appropriate topics. By exploring the five themes, students' comprehensive information processing, holistic understanding, and humanistic spirit and scientific attitude will be enhanced. They will be able to identify and propose problems from the reality and future of social life, grasp the essence of problems, and judge their value; develop the ability to design preliminary research plans (including experimental design), construct knowledge models, and conduct research and problem-solving; and improve their critical thinking and reflective abilities, laying a solid foundation for innovative thinking in problem-solving.
