The Legal Theory program under the Law School of Peking University is a national key discipline. It is also one of the earliest disciplines in China to establish master's and doctoral programs in legal theory. The master's program offers the following directions: Legal Theory, Legislation Studies, Sociology of Law, Law and Economics, Comparative Law, Judicial System, etc.
Currently, the faculty and graduate teaching ratio for the Legal Theory program at Peking University are as follows:
- Professor Zhu Suli's research focuses on Legal Philosophy, Legal Economics Analysis, Comparative Law, Comparative Legal Culture, and Sociology of Law.
- Professor Zhou Wangsheng's research focuses on Legislation Studies.
- Professor Zhang Qi's research focuses on Comparative Law and Sociology of Law.
- Professor Gong Xiantian's research focuses on Marxist Law.

- Associate Professor Deng Feng's research focuses on Law and Economics and Corporate Law.
