Author: Guo Yongkang, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-12-01
Features: This book is a national-level planning textbook for the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" of general higher education. The author published a book titled "Optics Tutorial" in 1989, which had a significant impact domestically. This book is based on that earlier work and has been revised. The book consists of nine chapters, which are:
Fundamental Principles of Geometrical Optics, Apertures, Aberrations, and Imaging Optical Instruments,
Light Waves and Their Reflection and Refraction at Interfaces of Isotropic Media,
Interference of Light,
Diffraction of Light,
Optical Information Processing and Holography,
Propagation of Light in Crystals and Liquid Crystals,
Absorption, Dispersion, and Scattering of Light,
Laser and Nonlinear Optics.
This book systematically and thoroughly introduces the fundamental concepts, principles, analytical methods, and important applications of optics. At the end of each chapter, selected review questions and exercises are provided. While retaining traditional content, the book also appropriately incorporates some modern optical concepts and developments closely related to traditional topics. The book is characterized by accurate concepts, clear physical imagery, novel material selection, rigorous logical structure, and concise mathematical operations. It can serve as a textbook for physics majors in higher education institutions and can also be used as a reference book for other disciplines.
