Features: The most severe issue facing American transportation is its excessive dependence on oil, coupled with congestion, casualties, and environmental pollution, making the entire traffic situation perilous. Most of the current so-called measures and construction plans to improve transportation are superficial, short-sighted, or have hidden agendas. The underground vacuum tube transportation system proposed in this book—“American Metro”——allows maglev trains to travel in an obstacle-free vacuum, free from friction, curves, or hills, without damaging public or private property, without using gasoline, and with only a minimal amount of electricity, unaffected by weather conditions. After shifting people's travel and goods transportation to this safer, faster, and more efficient underground vacuum tube system, traffic accidents and personal injuries would also decrease. This system combines the advantages of cars, trains, and airplanes while overcoming all their shortcomings, making it nearly a perfect transportation system. America must either prepare for the arrival of the "post-petroleum era" or suffer the pain that is about to descend. This book aims to inspire people to take action in building the underground vacuum tube transportation system, ensuring that America's disaster does not occur.
