Soul's Journey 1

Author: Li
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-12-01
Features: The starting point of the most terrifying campus suspense story in history, recommended by the top five websites (Sina, Tianya, Maopu, Sohu) as the annual strong promotional genre novel. It is a source of great comfort to see the resurgence of this genre in mainland China. Among these authors, I personally have high hopes for three young talents: Cang Yue for wuxia novels, Xia Shuyehu for fantasy novels, and Li for horror novels. – Wen Rui’an (One of the Four Great Masters of Wuxia)
The most terrifying thing in the world is not demons or fierce beasts, nor loneliness or solitude, but the unknown ahead and the uncertainty of one’s own position. This fear of the unknown is far more powerful than any terrifying thing. This is exactly the feeling I got from The Soul’s Journey. – Long Zi Da Ren (Editor of the "Female Channel" at Qidian)
I find it difficult to describe how I was drawn to The Soul’s Journey. It seems like an ordinary, almost mundane story, but its development is full of twists and turns, thrilling and heart-stirring. What is even rarer is the author’s wonderful narrative style—it feels as if danger is everywhere, yet it is also as if everything is just the reader’s imagination. – Zhen Hao (Editor of "Spirit Cat’s Tale" at Maopu)
If you love horror novels, you must not miss The Soul’s Journey, otherwise it will be a lifelong regret for you. – Mo Shang Zi Hu (Netizen of "Supernatural Space" at Sohu)
Reading The Soul’s Journey reminds me of when I first read "The Journey of Monkey" by Jin He Zai. Upon waking up, looking at the chandelier in my home, I suddenly felt as if I didn’t know where I was. – Cang Kong Can Yue Wu (Netizen of "Lotus Pond Ghost Talk" at Tianya)
In a dilapidated and damp female dormitory on the shores of Donghu Lake, there is a student named Su Xiao who has long been plagued by nightmares. She often sees ghosts wandering in the corridors, spirits moving in and out of the dormitory. Even her roommates, in dreams, reveal a sinister and ferocious glow unlike their usual selves. Murders, violence, and conspiracies repeatedly appear in her dreams; ghosts, ghost children, and illusions nearly drive her to the brink of collapse. Yet, this is just the beginning! With the eerie appearance of a Zhang Shao Huan poster, those nightmares suddenly turn into real events—one by one—her beautiful roommate becomes mysterious and strange, disappears one after another; the security guard of the women’s building is haunted by midnight terror and dies in a bizarre manner; the deep and winding air raid shelter at the back of the school is filled with ghostly shadows; and even her boyfriend suddenly becomes mysterious and unpredictable. It seems as if everything is hinting that Su Xiao is inextricably linked to every terrifying incident. Under immense pressure, Su Xiao even begins to suspect that she herself is the true culprit behind these horrifying events! Were the innocent people who died murdered by others, or did Su Xiao kill them without realizing it? Or perhaps, it was the work of malevolent ghosts, with the souls running wild? As the truth is about to be revealed, this helpless woman, with no fighting skills, will make what life choices—Su Xiao will take readers on an unbearable journey of terror! The first half of this book was strongly promoted on literary websites such as Qidian, Tianya, and Maopu, immediately sparking a massive wave and captivating countless "Soul Fans," who considered it an absolute classic in campus horror for the year.
