Features: This book supplements the previous edition with new theoretical understandings and diagnostic methods for low back pain diseases from modern and domestic/international perspectives. It primarily focuses on modern medical theories and includes traditional therapies that have been proven effective through clinical experience. In terms of pathogenesis, it emphasizes the integration of theory with clinical practice, and in treatment methods, it advocates for a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. The book features over 200 illustrations and photographs, with important references listed at the end of each chapter. The entire book consists of 46 chapters, divided into ten parts.
Part I covers fundamental theories, supplementing the new understanding of basic theories of low back pain and imaging knowledge, particularly the clinical applications of CT, MRI, and ECT.
Part II introduces treatment methods, replacing the drug appendix from the previous edition with an in-depth section on internal medicine drug treatments, while also emphasizing medical sports and rehabilitation.
Part III focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue pain. Since intervertebral disc herniation is a major component of low back pain, it is divided into four chapters for detailed discussion. Additionally, new topics such as lumbar discogenic pain and lateral process pain have been added.
Part IV covers low back pain caused by spinal inflammatory lesions, such as ankylosing spondylitis, as well as acquired spinal structural abnormalities and degenerative changes, including conditions like lumbar instability, lumbar stenosis, and osteoporosis, which have garnered significant attention in recent years.
Chapters VII and VIII respectively discuss congenital deformities, tumors, and rheumatic-related diseases that lead to low back pain.
Part IX has been revised to focus on adjacent structural lesions, covering hip and knee pain.
Part X addresses low back pain in certain special populations, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, and athletes.
