Features: As Buddhism and Christianity are the two major religions of the East and West, their dialogue has been a focal point of international academia. This book, centered on methodological reflections of interfaith dialogue, the history of their encounter, and parallel comparisons, for the first time showcases the multidimensional thinking and rational exploration of Chinese academia on Buddhist-Christian dialogue. It holds profound significance for cultural exchange and cooperation between the East and West in the process of globalization, as well as for the construction of human ethical spirit in the 21st century. The articles collected in this book are primarily based on those presented at the "International Academic Conference on Buddhist-Christian Dialogue," held in Xi'an from November 21 to 24, 2003. The conference was co-organized by the Institute of Buddhist Studies at Shaanxi Normal University, the Religious Studies Institute at Xi'an International Studies University, the Moral and Religious Studies Center at Tsinghua University, and the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. This book includes the opening and closing speeches from the conference as a record. The study of Buddhist-Christian relations in China is still in a relatively preliminary stage. It is believed that the publication of this book not only represents a milestone in Chinese Buddhist-Christian studies but also lays a foundation for future development.
