Features: The book Degenerative Spinal Diseases is a response to the call of the WTO, launching an offensive against orthopedic diseases and dedicated to improving the survival and quality of life of the elderly. Its content includes the etiology and pathogenesis of degenerative diseases from the cervical to the lumbosacral spine, as well as specific diagnostic and treatment methods and the latest advancements. The main content covers applied anatomy and biomechanics of the spinal cord and spinal column, cervical spondylosis, cervical stenosis, ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament of the cervical spine, cervical instability, thoracic stenosis and ossification of the ligamentum flavum of the thoracic spine, lumbar disc herniation, discogenic low back pain, lumbar stenosis and lumbar instability, as well as the latest advancements in the treatment of osteoporotic spinal compression fractures. The book also includes minimally invasive surgical treatment for lumbar disc herniation, artificial lumbar disc replacement and related research, as well as vertebroplasty for osteoporotic spinal compression fractures, all of which were among the earliest treatment programs developed by myself and our department nationwide. The contributors to this book include both nationally renowned orthopedic experts, anatomists, and biomechanics specialists, as well as a large number of active middle-aged and young in clinical and research frontlines. Among them are also multiple doctoral and master's students from our department, whose unpublished latest research findings on spinal degeneration are included. It is believed that the publication of this book will help a broad readership gain a systematic and clear understanding of spinal degenerative diseases.
