Features: This book is divided into 20 units, each containing two legal English texts. The two texts revolve around a specific topic, systematically introducing the fundamental knowledge of major areas in American commercial law from different perspectives. The content covers the introduction to the commercial legal environment, contract law, tort law, property law, insurance law, commercial paper, forms of business organization, and more.
The Before You Read section at the beginning of each text includes two simple questions for students to answer before reading, designed to stimulate their thinking. Next is the First Reading: Exercises section, which requires students to complete it after reading through the text quickly to train their reading speed. Each paragraph in the main text is numbered for easy reference and reading; a word count explanation is provided after the main text to help learners monitor their reading speed.
Annotations are included after the text, providing the necessary legal, social, and cultural background knowledge required for understanding the text. Following this is a glossary that lists the more challenging vocabulary and phrases from the text, along with their phonetic transcriptions, part of speech, and Chinese translations.
Finally, the After-reading Exercises section includes a variety of practice questions, both subjective and objective, to enhance students' comprehension of the text content and mastery of key vocabulary. The Oral Practice section allows students to express their opinions after gaining legal knowledge, thereby improving their oral communication skills.
