Space exploration, a term known only to a few half a century ago and largely unfamiliar to the general public, has now become a household name. Moreover, space engineering has become an indispensable part of human society. It has played a revolutionary role in various fields such as communication, meteorology, transportation, resource exploration, scientific research, and cosmic exploration, contributing significantly to the development of human society and the expansion of knowledge.
On October 16, 2003, the Shenzhou 5 manned spacecraft successfully completed China's first manned spaceflight mission, and we witnessed the heroic figure of Yang Liwei as he exited the spacecraft. Everyone couldn't help but cheer: The Chinese have created a space miracle that has impressed the world. However, China's manned space program has just begun, and we still need to develop space laboratories. The future is bright, but the journey is long, requiring the relentless efforts of generations.
Understanding space and participating in space exploration are the dreams of many young people. To satisfy the desire of young readers to learn about space, we once wrote the book Journey to Space, published by the Elephant Publishing House. Now, at the invitation of Haiyan Publishing House, we have written this illustrated Space Encyclopedia. This book focuses on manned spaceflight and comprehensively introduces all aspects of space exploration, including spacecraft, historical figures in space, and the story of Chinese astronauts. It features over 1,200 accurate and expressive illustrations.
Particularly noteworthy is that most of the images related to Chinese space exploration were personally taken by friends in the aerospace industry, making them even more precious. We hope that through the publication of space-related books, more young people will pay attention to space and eventually join the aerospace industry.
