Features: Pathophysiology is a science that studies the laws and mechanisms of the occurrence, development, and outcome of diseases by taking the diseased body as the object and focusing on functional and metabolic changes. Mastering pathophysiology lays a foundation for further study in clinical medicine, pharmacy, and preventive medicine. With the vigorous development of medical education and the continuous deepening of educational reform, pathophysiology textbooks published domestically have gradually been serialized to meet the learning needs of medical students of different academic terms. The edition of our "Pathophysiology" has been used for 5 years and has been well-received by students of higher medical colleges and medical students of the Central Radio and Television University. It is now revised based on the original book. In terms of layout, in addition to retaining the original chapters, we have added hypertension and diabetes, which severely threaten human health, as representatives of vascular and endocrine system pathophysiology. To meet the requirements of the 3-year medical specialty education, we have summarized the content of each chapter at the beginning of each chapter and proposed learning objectives to be achieved at three levels: mastery, familiarity, and understanding. In terms of teaching content, we have supplemented some new developments in modern medicine, and in terms of expression, we strive to make the language concise and clear, so that teachers can teach and students can understand and memorize. Additionally, this book lists some English terms to help students familiarize themselves with the English terminology of the pathophysiology profession. Clinical case analysis has also been added to each chapter to help students combine basic theory with clinical practice as early as possible. This book is not only a textbook for students of higher medical colleges, various part-time education, and adult education to study pathophysiology but also provides some help for teachers in teaching assistance. Accompanying this textbook is the second edition of "Pathophysiology Learning Guide" to facilitate students' self-study, review, and assessment of learning outcomes.
