Features: Literature is a compulsory course for students in art-related higher education institutions. To meet the cultural requirements stipulated by the Ministry of Education and to adapt to the art education landscape of the new century, we have reformed the teaching of literature courses in art colleges. Based on long-term teaching practices, we have compiled this textbook primarily for the use of students in art colleges. In literature textbooks for art colleges, the analysis of literary works and the history of literature are combined. Therefore, this textbook selects and compiles works primarily based on their cultural value and aesthetic characteristics. It emphasizes the development of literary trends through the selection and lecture of classic works, closely aligns with contemporary trends, and enhances students' aesthetic abilities, humanities knowledge, and artistic cultivation. This textbook is divided into three parts: Ancient Chinese Literature, Modern Chinese Literature, and Foreign Literature. Each part includes an outline of the history of literature to help students interpret works, feel the times, and grasp the context. Each work is followed by detailed annotations and brief evaluations of the author and the work. The annotations and evaluations pay attention to reflecting the latest research findings and theoretical developments.
