Features: Gout is a systemic disease caused by purine metabolism disorders. Due to its symptoms resembling the wind—coming quickly and disappearing just as swiftly—it is called gout. During gout attacks, the pain wanders through the limbs and joints, as sharp as being bitten by a tiger. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is named "White Tiger Wind." Historically, many emperors and high-ranking officials suffered from gout, leading people to call it the "Emperor's Disease" or "Disease of the Aristocracy." Today, however, suffering from gout is no longer the exclusive domain of emperors and nobles. With significant improvements in living standards, the incidence of gout among ordinary people is on the rise. Gout is characterized by hyperuricemia, which can lead to recurrent attacks of gouty acute arthritis, deposition of tophi, tophaceous chronic arthritis, and joint deformities. It can also affect the kidneys, causing chronic interstitial nephritis and kidney stones. It is more common in males over 40. The occurrence and development of gout are closely related to lifestyle and dietary habits. Scientifically and rationally arranging meals can effectively reduce the incidence of gout, alleviate symptoms, and play an extremely important role in preventing and treating this "disease of wealth" or "civilization disease." Preventing and treating gout requires not only following medical advice and using medications rationally but, more importantly, paying attention to dietary restraint—avoiding overeating, consuming foods high in purines, drinking alcohol, and preventing excessive obesity. During the treatment of gout, how to further improve efficacy has become a highly focused issue in the medical community. Although new concepts and methods continue to emerge, attaching great importance to the therapeutic role of dietary adjustment has become a consensus among experts. To guide gout patients in their daily diet, we have compiled the book "Dietary Recipes for Gout Care." The book introduces various foods and recipes that have a positive effect on gout, emphasizing practicality and operability. We sincerely hope that patients, while adhering to standard treatment, can alleviate suffering, improve efficacy, and ultimately overcome the disease through dietary care.
