Features: A day's plan is made in the morning, a year's plan is made in spring, and a lifetime's plan is made in early years! Early education is the starting point for an individual's lifelong development and an important foundation for ensuring children's sustainable healthy growth. The folk saying "Judge a child at three to see if he will be great at seven, and at seven to see if he will be old" is a classic summary of the importance of early education. In the tender love of parents, a child's life journey begins to gradually extend, but it may not always be in the right direction. Every parent hopes for their child to grow up healthily, but their understanding of early education varies greatly. Some young parents doubt the role of early education, believing that children will naturally start learning once they enter school. They argue that they were "played" as children and are doing well now, so there's no need for education. In reality, this is a very mistaken idea. Renowned American psychologist and professor at the University of Chicago, Benjamin Bloom, tracked the growth of 1,523 infants and young children for 20 years and reached an internationally recognized conclusion: if 17-year-old intellectual maturity is considered 100%, then 50% of intelligence is acquired before the age of four. Future learning is built upon early learning. In this era where even raising chickens and growing vegetables requires skills, how can raising children be done without a plan, just doing whatever one wants? Some young parents believe that early education is about intellectual development, so they start teaching children to read and calculate early, or even enroll them in advance in some courses. This is also very dangerous. Allowing children to learn knowledge and skills that do not match their physical and mental development too early can easily make them bored with learning and affect their growth. In fact, early education is about cultivating education, nurturing children's readiness for learning, and fostering good habits in reading, routines, self-care, hygiene, morality, memory, observation, and thinking. It emphasizes holistic development rather than just improving knowledge and skills. Of course, most young parents have realized that early education is very important. However, since they have not received related learning, they are often helpless when facing their own children. As early education workers, during family education counseling activities, we often receive many young parents who ask various educational questions with great expectations: "What toys should I buy for my child?" "Should I let my child learn to read early?" "How should I supplement calcium for my child?" "My child is very selfish, what should I do?" "Can I punish my child?" To help young parents quickly understand the knowledge and skills of scientific parenting and promote the healthy, harmonious, and holistic development of children in early years, we have organized some early education researchers, early education experts, and early health teachers to jointly write this book, presenting suggestions in a comprehensive way to introduce the matters to note and strategies that parents of children around three years old should adopt in early education. This book is divided into four parts.
Brain Development Section: With the goal of developing children's intelligence, it proposes educational suggestions on cultivating curiosity, right brain development, expanding thinking, sensory integration training, and language expression.
Health Care Section: To promote children's healthy growth, it offers advice on nutrition, health care, disease prevention, and daily routines, especially clarifying misunderstandings parents have about children's health care.
Personality Section: It reminds parents to pay attention to and effectively guide the cultivation of children's personality psychological qualities such as cooperation, confidence, bravery, responsibility, and love, striving to develop children's good emotional intelligence.
Parent-Child Relationship Section: It provides suggestions on parents' words and actions from the perspective of family education methods to improve the quality of early education and foster a harmonious parent-child relationship.
Each part contains 25 suggestions, totaling 100. Each suggestion not only explains the significance of the proposal from a theoretical or case perspective but also highlights the key points of early education. More importantly, it provides detailed introductions on how to implement the suggestions. Some are written step by step to clarify procedures, while others use examples to illustrate, fully considering the reading needs of young parents and offering strong targeting and operability.
To make this book more scientifically and cutting-edge in theory, we referred to a large amount of domestic and international literature, borrowed the views of some early education experts, and quoted the research results of some early education researchers. We also received strong support from experts and peers from organizations such as the Developmental Psychology Committee of the Jiangsu Psychological Society, Nanjing Campus Emotional Education Research Institute, Nanjing Qinhuai District Education Science Research Institute, Affiliated Experimental Primary School of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, and Nanjing Dafang Ziyuan Bilingual Experimental Kindergarten. We express our heartfelt gratitude to them all!
We hope this book can effectively guide parents, promoting the development of each child through comprehensive early influences, not just intellectually, but also in personality; not just physically, but also mentally, allowing children to grow up healthy, happy, and fulfilled.
