Features: Some diabetes experts suggest that efforts should be made in five aspects—dietary treatment, exercise treatment, drug treatment, self-monitoring, and health education—to curb the rising incidence of diabetes in China. According to newly released authoritative data from the WHO, the number of diabetes patients worldwide has exceeded 177 million, and it is projected to reach 370 million by 2025. The top three countries with the highest diabetes prevalence are India, China, and the United States. Diabetes has become one of the major killers threatening human health, and its prevalence is showing an expanding and younger trend. Diabetes is a common non-communicable disease. With the development of society, changes in lifestyles, and population aging, the prevalence of diabetes has been increasing year by year. Currently, there are approximately 130 million diabetes patients worldwide, and about 40 million in China. Epidemiological surveys estimate that the total number of diabetes patients will double in the next 25 years, with even faster growth in developing countries. Diabetes and its various acute and chronic complications have become major diseases threatening people's lives and health. In recent years, research on the basic, clinical, and epidemiological aspects of diabetes has advanced rapidly. To reflect the current clinical status of diabetes both domestically and internationally while also incorporating some progress in basic research, the author, with a mindset of learning and adhering to the principle of pragmatism, reviewed relevant domestic and international literature and compiled the book Clinical Diabetes. It provides detailed explanations on the etiology, diagnosis, and classification of diabetes, as well as the prevention and treatment of diabetes, acute and chronic complications, diabetes and hypertension, diabetes and hypoglycemia, diabetes and pregnancy, diabetes and psychological disorders, and diabetes and infections. It is hoped that this book will meet the needs of clinical physicians, especially those working in diabetes clinical practice, and will also provide inspiration for medical undergraduates and postgraduates. Additionally, it may benefit the self-education of diabetes patients.
