Features: This book systematically presents the theory, methods, and applications of damage mechanics for fractured rock masses. The book is divided into eight chapters: Chapter 1 introduces the current development of damage mechanics for rock masses; Chapter 2 elaborates on the constitutive relations and damage evolution equations of fractured rock masses under complex stress states; Chapter 3 discusses the damage rheological fracture mechanism of fractured rock masses and establishes a damage rheological model for fractured rock masses; Chapters 4 and 5 analyze the fracture mechanism of brittle rock joints and the deformation of fractured rock masses under complex stress states and pore pressure through full-stress-strain process numerical rock permeability tests, exploring the influence of seepage on the damage and fracture of fractured rock masses and establishing an equivalent continuum seepage model; Chapter 6 discusses the correlation among the seepage field, stress field, and damage field, exploring the contribution of seepage to the damage evolution of fractured rock masses and the evolution of the permeability tensor with the development of fracture damage, and presents the coupled equations of the unsteady seepage field and damage field of fractured rock masses; Chapter 7 introduces the theoretical foundation of fractal geometry, explores the fractal characteristics of rock damage and fracture, the fractal characteristics of damaged fracture debris, and studies the fractal model of rock mass structural surfaces and the fractal statistical characteristics of structural surfaces. Chapter 8 applies the aforementioned research findings to the stability analysis of the high slope of the ship lock in the Three Gorges Project and the fractal description of rock mass fractures in the San Dou Ping dam site engineering area. This book is suitable for technical personnel engaged in rock mechanics research with a certain foundation in mathematics and mechanics to improve their theoretical level, and can also serve as a textbook for postgraduate students majoring in geotechnical engineering.
