Features: Preface Since the Ministry of Construction began promoting the "Top Ten New Technologies in Construction" in September 1994, the computer application and management technology consulting unit for these technologies has been walking alongside everyone for 11 years. The work of the consulting unit has received strong support and assistance from the leadership of the Ministry of Construction, a wide range of manufacturers, and numerous construction and design enterprises. In particular, the annual "Symposium on the Application and Development of Information Technology in Construction Enterprises" has garnered increasing attention and popularity, with participation growing year by year. This year, it has been jointly supported by the Office of the Informationization Leading Group of the Ministry of Construction, the Department of Quality, the Department of Science and Technology, and the Department of Market Regulation. The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, as the administrative body for state-owned enterprises, has also provided its first-ever support to our conference. These developments indicate that the symposium's influence is expanding, and its role is becoming increasingly evident.
2005 was the final year of the "11th Five-Year Plan," and the construction industry's informationization efforts achieved many new accomplishments, especially in integrated innovation, with significant breakthroughs. Information technology has moved beyond the stage of single-technology application and is increasingly driving management transformation and promoting changes in production models. The contribution of information technology to the leapfrog development of the construction industry has been rising year by year.
To better showcase the achievements of the industry's informationization efforts and to provide more opportunities for exchange and learning, we have compiled and organized 52 papers into a formal publication. We would like to express our special gratitude to China Architecture & Building Press for its support during the publishing process. Here, we also extend our thanks to the individuals and organizations that participated in the 2005 Symposium on the Application and Development of Information Technology in Construction Enterprises, as well as to Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd. and EJian Technology Co., Ltd. for their strong support of this event.
The draft "Proposal of the CPC Central Committee on Formulating the 11th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development" clearly states:
"Adhere firmly to the path of new industrialization and accelerate the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure. Insist on using informatization to drive industrialization and using industrialization to promote informatization. Vigorously develop high-tech industries, accelerate the development of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, and strengthen the development of basic industries and infrastructure."
In terms of development models, it emphasizes:
"Strengthen independent innovation as a national strategy and strive to build an innovative country. Vigorously develop key and core technologies with independent intellectual property rights, and strive to improve the ability to innovate from scratch, integrate innovations, and digest and absorb imported technologies for further innovation."
From this, we can see that the informatization efforts in the construction industry should also proceed in accordance with such requirements and strategies. At the same time, we believe that by following this guidance, the informatization of the construction industry will achieve even greater success during the "11th Five-Year Plan" period.
