Features: The book Modern Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine?Practical Surgery Handbook has been well-received and loved by since its first publication in 1995, with 10 printings. Due to the rapid development of medical science, especially the continuous emergence of new methods, techniques, drugs, and achievements in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine surgery, the original content can no longer reflect the progress of the times. Therefore, we have comprehensively revised the original version. The revision principles are to focus on grassroots needs, emphasize practicality; base on mature techniques, reflect new advancements; strive for standardization and norms, while considering conventional usage. In terms of content and arrangement, the revised book is still divided into two parts, with a total of 17 chapters. The first part introduces basic clinical issues in surgery, while the second part focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases, briefly introducing the diagnostic key points, differential diagnosis, and traditional Chinese and Western medical treatments for over 100 surgical diseases. The appendix includes "Examples of Surgical Case Writing" and "Standards for the Treatment of Common Surgical Diseases." Given that the content of the chapter on "Musculoskeletal Diseases" now falls under orthopedics, Chapter 12 of the original version has been removed. All tumor-related diseases are now independent chapters. New content such as "Lithotripsy," "Post-Pulmonary Surgery Complications," "Post-Biliary Surgery Complications," "Post-Intestinal Surgery Complications," and "Post-Kidney Transplantation Complications" have been added. In recent years, some internationally recognized new techniques, methods, and drugs have been reflected in relevant disease chapters. In terms of case writing and the standardization of terminology, all case writings in the book have been reviewed and revised according to the requirements of the Standardized TCM Case Writing issued by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2000. The terminology is based on the Medical Terminology published by the National Committee for the Examination of Technical Terms, ensuring standardization. At the same time, to accommodate grassroots readers, for some standardized medical terms that have not yet been widely used (including disease names, drug names, units of measurement, and their expressions), the old terms will be placed in parentheses after the standard terms upon their first appearance, aiming to promote standard terminology while respecting conventional usage. The revised Modern Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine?Practical Surgery Handbook truly reflects comprehensive, novel, standardized, and practical characteristics, making it highly instructive for surgical clinical practice. The first edition of this book was edited by Professor Li Biao, who passed away due to illness. He was dedicated to integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine and held a high reputation in the field of surgery. The revised Modern Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine?Practical Surgery Handbook (2nd Edition) is edited by Professor He Juqiao and Professor Wu Jinshu. All contributors have long been engaged in clinical and teaching work in integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine surgery, with extensive clinical and teaching experience. Although the revision was rushed, everyone put in hard work. This revision was completed with the strong support and assistance of the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Hunan Provincial People's Hospital. At the time of publication, sincere gratitude is expressed.
