Can chronic pelvic inflammatory disease be cured

Patient's question:

Hello, I am a patient with pelvic inflammatory disease. I have visited many hospitals, but none of them have been able to cure my illness. I would like to ask if chronic pelvic inflammatory disease can be cured?

Doctor's answer:

First, it is essential to establish confidence in treating the disease. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is often a result of acute PID that was not properly or thoroughly treated, or due to the patient's poor constitution and prolonged course of the illness. In some cases, chronic PID occurs without a history of acute PID. Chinese herbal medicine is effective in treating chronic PID, with damp-heat type being most common. It is advisable to clear heat and resolve dampness, promote blood circulation, and remove blood stasis. Herbs such as Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), Radix Paeoniae Rubra (Chishao), Radix Aucklandiae (Muxiang), Persicae Semen (Taoren), Lonicera japonica (Jinyinhua), Taraxacum mongolicum (Pugongying), Poria cocos (Fuling), Moutan Cortex (Danpi), and Rehmannia glutinosa (Shengdi) can be used. If the condition is of cold congelation and qi stagnation type, it is better to warm the meridians, dispel cold, regulate qi, and promote blood circulation. The modified Guizhi Fuling Decoction is commonly used.
Additionally, topical application can be applied using 500 grams of roasted goji salt or 500 grams of Kanli sand mixed with vinegar. These can be wrapped in cloth and applied to the lower abdomen. Retention enemas with 100 milliliters of Polygonum multiflorum decoction can also be used. Other traditional Chinese medicine treatments, such as body acupuncture and ear acupuncture, also have certain therapeutic effects.
Closed-loop therapy can also be employed to block harmful stimuli and improve tissue nutrition. Typically, 40 milliliters of 0.25% novocaine is used for anterior sacral angle block, administered once or twice a week, with 4-5 sessions constituting a course.
Physical therapies such as shortwave, ultrashortwave, laser, audiofrequency, iontophoresis, and paraffin therapy can promote pelvic circulation, improve tissue nutrition, enhance metabolism, and facilitate inflammation absorption and resolution.
Various antimicrobial drugs should also be selected based on bacterial sensitivity tests.
