Features: High-grade highway asphalt pavement has exhibited many new damage phenomena under heavy traffic loads. To reduce such damage and extend the service life of the pavement, the author conducted a decade-long study, and this book is a comprehensive integration of those research findings. The author first measured the dynamic water pressure on the pavement under high-speed traffic, discovering the migration phenomenon of asphalt during pavement use. Based on field core tests from actual projects, the pavement damage mechanisms were analyzed, and a new classification method was proposed. The stress field of the pavement structure under heavy load was analyzed, revealing the variation patterns of shear stress. Building on these studies, the pavement damage mechanisms were further analyzed. Using long-term accumulated pavement performance data, a structural behavior equation covering the entire service life was established, and the process of its development is elaborated. Based on these achievements, a performance-based full-life pavement design method was proposed, along with some design examples. This book can serve as a reference for professionals engaged in highway, urban road, and airport engineering, including design, construction, maintenance, management, and research personnel, as well as teachers and graduate students in universities and colleges.
