Can sexual intercourse lead to pregnancy during a natural miscarriage?

Patient's question:

Hello doctor! I stopped having my period on May 21, 2005, but then I had vaginal bleeding in early July. Later, on July 24th, when I had a miscarriage and bleeding, I had sex. Could this have caused pregnancy? The bleeding stopped on July 29th, but then I found out I was pregnant in August. Could you please tell me when I got pregnant? Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

After a miscarriage, ovulation will usually return. Generally, it is recommended not to have sexual intercourse during the month of the miscarriage, before the next menstrual period. Engaging in sexual activity during this time may lead to another pregnancy or the development of gynecological inflammation.
After a miscarriage, ovulation may not be very regular, and it is impossible to predict the ovulation period. As long as there is sexual activity, there is a possibility of pregnancy.
