Survival Analysis and Reliability

Author: Chen Jiading

Publish Date: 2005-11-01
Features: During the writing process of this book, the following points were noted:
(1) Systematically discusses the basic concepts and main contents of survival analysis and reliability.
(2) The martingale method is an important tool for studying survival analysis. This book introduces the basics of martingale methods, focusing on how they are used to study the statistical properties of PL estimation. However, due to space constraints, the central limit theorem of martingales and its application in large-sample studies are not covered.
(3) Systematically discusses the maximum likelihood estimation for incomplete data.
(4) The exponential distribution plays a significant role in quality and reliability research. There are various types of experimental schemes and data for the exponential distribution, and some quality and reliability standards issued by the International Organization for Standardization and China are also targeted at the exponential distribution. Therefore, a dedicated chapter is devoted to discussing various life testing schemes and data processing methods for the exponential distribution.
(5) Strives to summarize some important developments in the field of survival analysis and reliability over the past decade.
(6) Highlights key points. The author believes that as long as readers have studied advanced mathematics and elementary probability statistics, they will not find it difficult to read and master the concepts and methods of survival analysis and reliability presented in this book. To learn and master the proofs of all theorems, readers are required to have a basic understanding of measure theory and modern probability theory and to have received corresponding mathematical training. This book is intended as a graduate textbook for students majoring in probability and statistics and applied mathematics. It can also be used by senior undergraduate students in related fields and researchers in practical departments.
