Features: Human society has entered a new century and has also welcomed the era of the knowledge economy. The knowledge economy calls for high-quality talents, who should possess a solid scientific and cultural foundation, healthy physical and psychological qualities, as well as strong thinking, practical, and innovative abilities. The purpose of school education is to educate people. Today, the concept of "everything for student development" has increasingly become the soul of modern education. How can we unlock students' potential and guide them to develop healthy individual characteristics? How can we promote comprehensive quality education with a focus on fostering innovative spirit? How can we lay a solid foundation for the growth of high-quality talents in the basic education stage? Every educator with a sense of responsibility is seriously thinking and exploring these questions. The school that compiled this series of books is an active practitioner in this great transformation. Hunan Normal University High School, a renowned institution in Hunan with nearly a century of history, seized the historical opportunity of reform and opening-up, adhering to the guiding principle of "three" and implementing a school philosophy that emphasizes reform as the driving force and education as the foundation. It established the concept of "human-centered, recognizing differences, developing individuality, and looking to the future" for its curriculum reform, striving to build a new high school curriculum system and promote the in-depth implementation of quality education. Guided by the teaching philosophy of "students as the main body, teachers as the leading force, and thinking as the core thread," the school has achieved its educational goals of "holistic development, comprehensive development, specialized development, and harmonious development," leading to the overall improvement of students' quality and the cultivation of their individual strengths. Over the years, the school's high school graduation exams and college entrance examination (Gaokao) scores have consistently ranked among the top in Hunan Province. Since 1985, it has recommended over 900 outstanding graduates for admission to prestigious universities such as Peking University and Tsinghua University without examination, and 38 students have been admitted to the special programs for gifted students at universities like the University of Science and Technology of China. In international science competitions for high school students, the school's students have won 17 gold medals and 6 silver medals in subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, bringing great honor to the country and earning the school the reputation of a "gold medal cradle"! The school's experience in implementing comprehensive quality education has been extensively reported in People's Education.
Comprehensive quality education is the main channel for cultivating students' innovative spirit. To better share insights on discipline-based education with peers and provide diligent students with a comprehensive training textbook that aligns with both the current teaching syllabus and textbooks as well as the innovative thinking and problem-solving methods inspired by the Olympic competition, with the strong support of Longmen Bookstore, we have organized experienced teachers from Hunan Normal University High School and gold medal-winning coaches from international Olympic competitions to compile this series of books titled Synchronous Expansion (2-in-1), covering different academic levels and multiple disciplines. The goal is to integrate synchronous guidance with competition training, enabling students to clarify key points, overcome difficulties, deepen their understanding and application of basic knowledge and skills, accumulate problem-solving techniques, master subject-specific thinking methods, and learn to generalize and synthesize knowledge. This will help students connect, extend, transfer, and reorganize knowledge, enabling them to solve new problems in new contexts and effectively improve their academic learning abilities and innovative awareness.
This series is not only aimed at top students in key schools as an introductory guide for competitions but also serves as an effective tool for students in ordinary schools for synchronous learning, systematic review, and exam preparation. The combination of "synchronous" and "competition" is a distinctive feature of this book, and for us, it is also a new attempt.
