It has a long history and splendid culture. During the Spring and Autumn Period, it was the capital of the Gumi Kingdom, and its county history dates back over 2,200 years. The Chengyou Commercial Gang was one of the top ten commercial guilds in China during the Ming and Qing dynasties and was the only one named after a county. Longyou boasts exquisite natural landscapes, numerous historical and cultural attractions, and rich cultural heritage. Its peaks, rocks, caves, lakes, pools, and forests each have unique characteristics. The Gumi culture, commercial gang culture, and Long culture are deeply rooted. To date, there are over 100 cultural relics protection units at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, including the "Longyou Grottoes," which are hailed as the "Ninth Wonder of the World." Longyou is rich in local products and is renowned as the "Hometown of Bamboo and Bamboo Shoots" and the "Hometown of Chinese Rosewood" in China. The climate is warm and humid, and the land resources are abundant. Longyou has significant geographical advantages, with well-developed rail, road, and water transport networks, making it an important transportation hub connecting the eastern and central parts of Zhejiang with Jiangxi, Anhui, and Fujian. The Zhejiang-Jiangxi Railway, Hangjinqu Highway, and Provincial Road 46 run east-west across the county, while National Highway 320 and Provincial Road 50 run north-south through the northern and southern parts of the county, respectively. The Hangxinlong Expressway is currently under construction.
