If the pregnant woman is not elderly, it can be mostly reassuring. The Down syndrome screening only provides a probability. A high risk does not necessarily mean the child will have a problem, and a low risk does not necessarily mean the child will definitely be fine, it just means the chance is very small. If there is no genetic history in either family or no direct relatives have had defective children, it can mostly be reassuring, as there is generally no problem. The pregnant woman should just relax.
