Does a choroid plexus cyst on one side of the fetus affect intelligence?

Patient's question:

At 22 weeks, the system conducted a thorough examination and found a choroid plexus cyst on one side of the fetus. At 26 weeks, during the 4D scan, it still hasn't resolved and hasn't grown either. Will this affect the fetus's growth and development, and intelligence? Can the child be kept?

Doctor's answer:

Cerebellar cysts are commonly observed in the axial plane of the fetal skull, located within the lateral ventricles. They can be solitary or multiple, unilateral or bilateral, and appear as focal anechoic areas within the cerebellum. If only one soft marker, such as a cerebellar cyst, is present, it does not indicate an increased risk of chromosomal abnormalities. However, when a detailed MRI examination reveals additional structural abnormalities, the risk of fetal trisomy 18 increases, but the risk of trisomy 21 does not. In normal early pregnancy, 1%-2.5% of fetuses may have cerebellar cysts.
