Patient's question:
The doctor has two questions to ask for advice, please explain in order of the questions:1. Do female eggs contain genes from male ancestors such as fathers, grandfathers, and granduncles?
2. If this female egg is fertilized, will it pass down the genes of these male ancestors to the fertilized egg (i.e., the future child) across generations?
Doctor's answer:
From a genetic perspective, your genes are inherited one from each parent, with grandparents contributing 1/4 of your genes. Your children will also inherit these genes across generations, with the ratio increasing by half. It is recommended that in genetics, the parental traits exhibited by purebred hybrids with two pairs of contrasting traits be referred to as dominant traits, while the genes that suppress dominant traits are called dominant genes. The trait of the parent that is not expressed is referred to as a recessive trait, and the gene that suppresses the recessive trait is called a recessive gene.
