Since its publication in 1999, Reading has been deeply loved by a broad readership, especially middle school students, for its exquisite and unique selections, authoritative questions, and direct relevance to the middle school entrance examination. Among teachers and students, it is widely said: "When choosing reading materials, you must read Reading; to improve reading and writing skills, you must read Reading." Over the years, the middle school entrance examination questions in provinces such as Hubei and Shandong have also aligned closely with this book. To adapt to the guidance requirements of the new curriculum standards and textbooks, we have revised the original book for the third time.
1. Revised the list of articles. This revision comprehensively incorporates the opinions of readers, teachers, and experts, adding and replacing 86 articles in the new edition of classic extracurricular reading materials for the new curriculum.
2. Changed "Reading Guidelines" to "Reading Reviews and Reflections." In the reviews and reflections, not only are authors introduced, but greater emphasis is placed on guiding students in reading the texts, making it complement the reading and thinking process.
3. Changed "Exercises and Thinking" to "Reading and Thinking." According to the latest middle school entrance examination guidelines and reader feedback, the number of training questions has been adjusted appropriately. In the original version, each article typically had 5-8 questions, while now it is generally 8-10 questions.
4. Adjusted the categorization. The sections are categorized according to the reading needs of middle school students and the content of the selected articles. The extracurricular reading for the new curriculum is divided into: "Oxygen Bar for the Soul," "Bag of Wisdom," "Life Classroom," "Sky of Love," "Wisdom and Philosophy," and "Mountains and Rivers with Sentiment."
