Is the hard lump under the armpit during lactation a galactoma?

Patient's question:

Currently breastfeeding, half a month later, I had a fever with a lump under my breast and armpit. I don't know if it's caused by milk stagnation or lymph nodes. The area near the bottom of my bra has round lumps, the size of walnuts. I've been breastfeeding for half a month and had a fever twice. It wasn't until about a month and a half that the round lumps appeared.

Doctor's answer:

During lactation, if milk flow is not smooth, milk stasis can easily occur. If there is a bacterial infection, it may lead to mastitis. Mastitis is often characterized by redness, swelling, pain, fever, and elevated white blood cell counts. Once mastitis is diagnosed, breastfeeding should be, and breast massage and milk emptying should be performed. Intravenous antibiotics should be administered to treat the infection. If the infection is controlled, symptoms subside, and the lump disappears, breastfeeding can be resumed.
