Breast tenderness is a problem?

Patient's question:

These days, I don't know what's going on. During class, my breasts have been constantly sore. I wanted to massage them, but I felt embarrassed to do so in class. Every time I come home, I massage them in my room by myself, but they still hurt a lot. Is this some kind of illness?

Doctor's answer:

Hello,
1. Breast tenderness during puberty: This is the earliest form of breast pain in girls, generally occurring between the ages of 9 and 13. At this stage, girls' breasts begin to develop, starting with the nipple becoming prominent and accompanied by mild tenderness. After menarche, the breast tenderness will naturally subside as the breasts mature during puberty.
2. Breast tenderness before menstruation: Many women experience breast fullness, hardness, and tenderness before their menstrual period. In more severe cases, even slight vibrations or collisions can cause discomfort, making existing granular or nodular sensations more pronounced. The discomfort resolves after the period ends.
