Can a blood test for pregnant women detect if the child has a problem?

Patient's question:

Got pregnant. Tested blood on September 24th, HCG was 25471, progesterone was low. Took medication, which was 50 units. Tested again today, October 6th, 12 days apart, HCG is only 99434, progesterone is 43 units. Not doubling well, what's going on? Is the baby having problems...

Doctor's answer:

At around 5 weeks of pregnancy, the progesterone level is between 15~25 ng/ml, or the progesterone reference value: (small units) at 7 weeks: 52.7-100.1 nmol/L; at 8 weeks: 64.6-113.8 nmol/L, which is relatively normal. hCG at 5 weeks: 3500-115000 mIU/mL; at 6-8 weeks: 12000-270000 mIU/mL. I don't know how many days you've had your period? If the progesterone level is low, please have a thorough ultrasound check to confirm an intrauterine pregnancy.
