Author: Li Yong

Publish Date: 2005-09-08
Features: This book, through the portrayal of Lin Yutang's legendary life, presents us with a paradoxical portrayal of the human spirit under the banners of democracy and science/human rights and freedom. I do not know whether the readers can, through the lens of the heart, realize the truth that the enlightenment cause of the new century "should adopt a different attitude and approach." Taking Lin Yutang as a mirror, we can make new choices for the dual enlightenment of intellectuals. During the writing process, the author strives to artistically express the spiritual worlds of the subjects on an aesthetic level, using words that are either fresh, flowing, relaxed, or passionate to convey their own values, aiming to highlight profound insights within natural and smooth expressions. Although this series is categorized as "Spiritual Biographies," it emphasizes the exploration of the spiritual journey of the subjects, requires depth and intensity, and demands a certain degree of representativeness for the new research on each subject. It calls for rigor and realism, avoiding excessive fictionalization that strays too far from historical facts. However, we advocate analyzing the major historical events experienced by the subjects through the lens of modern humanistic and human-centered values, and trying to discern the true psychology and psychological realities of the subjects during these events. We believe that only in this way can we get closer to the truth! Therefore, in this series, we place greater emphasis on the author's reasonable imagination of the spiritual trajectory of the characters and their deductions that are close to the truth.
