Why is the menstrual cycle irregular

Patient's question:

I haven't had my period for several months. Previously, I never had such a situation. My periods were always quite regular, with only a delay of two or three days if they came early or late. This time, it's been more than two and a half months. But I tested with a pregnancy test yesterday, and it came back negative. What's going on?
First follow-up question: I took the test today. However, I had some wine last night.

Doctor's answer:

If your period is delayed, it could be that you just started your period, or it might be irregular. Please pay attention to relaxing your mind.
There are many factors that can affect your menstrual cycle, such as physical weakness, poor rest, stress, fatigue, irregular emotions, diet, lifestyle, environmental changes, medications, and illnesses.
Under normal circumstances, a one-week difference before or after your period is not a major issue. However, based on your description, you haven't had your period for three months recently. This could be due to instability in the reproductive endocrine system during puberty. It is recommended to visit a hospital to check your six hormone levels.
