Features: The Rhine River is an international river and a vital waterway in Europe, as well as a crucial water source for the countries along its banks. The process of pollution, treatment, ecological restoration, and international cooperation in the Rhine River basin holds significant reference value for China's ongoing socialist modernization and the construction of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, especially in terms of water resource development and utilization in the basin. The Rhine River is one of the most water-abundant rivers in Europe, holding an important position among European rivers and being one of the busiest waterways in the world. This book is divided into three parts: the first part primarily introduces the geography, hydrology, water supply, water quality, navigation, hydropower generation, flood control, ecological protection, and integrated water management of the Rhine River; the second part covers delta management, channel evolution, and regional flood control cases; the third part introduces the basic conditions and progress of international cooperation on the Rhine River. This book can serve as a reference for water conservancy, water transport, and hydropower professionals in China. The content included in this book was carefully compiled and selected based on field investigations by the Ministry of Water Resources team into the development and protection of water resources in the Rhine River basin, combined with the needs of domestic resource development and management. As the saying goes, "A distant mountain may provide a stone to polish the jade," and it is believed that by understanding the process of governance, protection, and international cooperation in the Rhine River, we will greatly benefit in carrying out sustainable water conservancy work, especially in the development and protection of international rivers.
