Features: "Ecosystems and Human Well-being — A Synthesis Report" is one of the six synthesis reports of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, aiming to assess the impact of ecosystem changes on human well-being and lay a scientific foundation for countries to take actions to protect biodiversity. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment was launched under the auspices of the United Nations in 2001, with 1,360 scientists from 95 countries participating in the assessment. The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment Synthesis Report on Biodiversity systematically analyzes the relationship between biodiversity, ecosystem services, and human well-being from perspectives such as economics, trade, technology, poverty reduction, and policy-making. The research findings indicate that the continuous loss of biodiversity has led to the deterioration of ecosystem service functions, increasing ecosystem vulnerability, reducing food supply, and affecting human health.
