Patient's question:
Tubal blockage treated with fluid three timesDoctor's answer:
The primary treatment option for fallopian tube blockage is in vitro fertilization (IVF). The fallopian tubes are delicate tubes with ciliated tissue on the inner mucosal layer that can move to transport sperm and embryos. Before the advancement of IVF technology, our only option was to use a catheter to clear the fallopian tubes, hoping for a small chance of pregnancy. With IVF technology, we can extract sperm and eggs, fertilize them in vitro, and then gently place the resulting embryos back into the uterine cavity. The success rate for each embryo transfer cycle is approximately 55%, and it significantly reduces the risk of ectopic pregnancy. Therefore, I personally do not recommend catheterization for clearing fallopian tubes.
