Features: Wang Gongxue's oil paintings are realistic in style, and this artistic language is more suitable for expressing lyrical rural scenery. His works are all based on real-life materials, which he is familiar with and vividly remembers. Through selection, cutting, scrutiny, and the choice and processing of the heart, these materials are transformed into artistic images, symbols carrying the painter's emotions, and reflections of his state of mind. Upon close analysis, we find that Wang Gongxue's works often adopt a form of horizontal extension, establishing a logical relationship between scenery, color, and emotion. For example, middle-ground scenes unfold villages, houses, clusters of trees, hay stacks, fences, cattle, sheep, and chickens, while small rivers and village paths extend from the foreground to the middle-ground and further to the background, forming an approximate "cross structure." This creates a balance between stability and change, between tranquility and movement, and between simplicity and richness. The combination of this visual pattern and aesthetic emotion liberates the composition from rigid limitations, presenting a vibrant vitality and an immersive atmosphere. The "innocence" and "simplicity" in Wang Gongxue's oil paintings, arising from the poetic charm of rural scenery, are inseparable from the beauty of rustic charm. The painter uses the "traditional" artistic power of rural scenery to showcase simplicity, thickness, tranquility, and warmth, conveying a resonant charm, emotions, and an indescribable sense of ethereal depth. What deserves attention here is—the time factor (such as the extending village paths and the small river flowing into the distance) has been integrated into the space, giving the works a profound sense of history and reality intertwined.
