A History of Chinese Foreign Relations: The People's Republic of China Period, 1949-1979 is now divided into four chapters and currently ends in 1979. The first two chapters (1949-1965) of this volume have largely incorporated the relevant sections of a similar textbook published in 1964 by the Foreign Affairs College under a collective name. (The textbook's timeframe is 1945-1960 and was edited by Comrade Zhang Shuyuan during his lifetime, with contributions from Comrades Wang Deren and Hu Zhiling). However, in accordance with current structural requirements, adjustments, supplements, and revisions have been made to the system and content, with some changes being significant.
