What kind of help do you need: How is hydrocele of the testis treated? What are the treatment methods for hydrocele of the testis? Can someone tell me?

Doctor's answer:

Hydrocele is a cyst formed when the accumulation of fluid in the tunica vaginalis exceeds the normal amount. This condition can occur at any age. When the tunica vaginalis itself or the testis, epididymis, etc., are affected by disease, the balance between fluid secretion and absorption is disrupted, leading to hydrocele. If the fluid accumulates in the tunica vaginalis for a long time and the internal pressure increases, it can affect the blood supply and temperature regulation of the testis, causing atrophy of the affected testis. Depending on the closure location of the processus vaginalis, hydrocele can be classified into five types: testicular hydrocele, inguinal hydrocele, mixed hydrocele, testicular-inguinal hydrocele (infantile type), and communicating hydrocele.
Treatment Methods:
1. Follow-up observation
Suitable for cases with a slow course, small amount of fluid, low tension, no significant growth over a long period, and no obvious symptoms. Infantile hydrocele often disappears spontaneously before the age of 2, and treatment is not urgent. If the hydrocele is caused by systemic diseases, the fluid can gradually be absorbed after the systemic disease is cured.
2. Puncture and aspiration with injection of sclerosing agents
Simple puncture and aspiration are prone to recurrence. After aspiration, sclerosing agents must be injected into the tunica vaginalis, but it is necessary to rule out the communication between the tunica vaginalis and the abdominal cavity. Due to its complications such as local hardening and secondary infection, its application is still controversial.
3. Surgical treatment
(1) Tunica vaginalis (Tunica vaginalis inversion): This is the most commonly used clinical method, with simple operation and good surgical outcomes.
(2) Hydrocele cyst excision: Mainly used for inguinal hydrocele cysts.
(3) Communicating hydrocele: High ligation and division of the unclosed processus vaginalis at the internal inguinal ring, followed by tunica vaginalis inversion.
