Features: An eternal epic, a torrent of blood and fire. The road is a monument laid on the ground. The Stilwell Road is a victory monument of the world peace and democracy camp, where all parties united to defeat Japanese fascism. On May 4, 1942, Japanese forces launched a sudden advance, seizing the mountainous regions of southwestern Yunnan and northern Myanmar, achieving a strategic blockade to cut off China's external land transportation during the War of Resistance. In 1943, General Stilwell came to China with a self-sacrificing spirit, ready to be a "sacrificial offering," to coordinate and organize the joint efforts of Chinese, American, British, Indian, and Burmese military and civilian forces to launch the Northern Myanmar-Southwestern Yunnan Road Campaign. In January 1945, while the Allied forces achieved a complete victory in the (Yunnan-Burma Counteroffensive Campaign), they also opened and recaptured the China-Burma-India International Highway. During the war, the highest authorities of the U.S. and China were honored to name this highway "Stilwell Road" in recognition of General Stilwell's outstanding contributions.
