How to treat postpartum symphysis pubis diastasis

Patient's question:

Pubic bone pain, difficulty in movement, pubic distance of 1.5 cm, June 2009

Doctor's answer:

If possible, you can go to the orthopedics department of a hospital and use equipment and bandages to adjust it. You don't need to lie down; that way, recovery will be much faster, and you can be mobile within 7 to 10 days.
Recommendations: Generally speaking, the discomfort caused by pubic symphysis diastasis in the pelvic area will significantly improve within a few weeks. Below are 13 methods to alleviate the discomfort caused by this structural change.
1. Place a pillow between your legs when sleeping. (Personally, I think it's better not to use a very high pillow—lower ones are better.)
2. When moving your feet and hips in bed, move them parallel or symmetrically.
3. Using an air mattress may help. (I haven’t tried it.)
4. Swimming can help reduce joint pressure.
5. Stand with your legs symmetrically aligned.
6. Avoid crossing your legs.
7. Try to sit down when getting dressed.
8. Apply an ice pack to the pubic area.
9. Move slowly.
10. Use a pelvic girdle. (Note: This is the same type of belt you’d normally use—tie it snugly. If possible, use one that can be applied with a patch; don’t leave it on for too long—about 60 minutes per day is sufficient.)
11. Place a lumbar pillow behind you when sitting.
12. Get a massage for your lower back.
13. Avoid lifting heavy objects.
