The development of book design has seen continuous changes in its structure and form. With the advancement of culture and technology, diversified book forms represent the future of book design. Book design serves as a bridge, always being a solid foundation for outstanding books. Book designers integrate familiar text and images into novel forms and rational orders. From the binding size to the inner text layout, from the top margin to the bottom margin, and from visual, auditory, olfactory, gustatory, and tactile senses to all aspects, they incorporate design imagination and creativity. Using the unique "body" of a book—its cover, layout, typography, color, graphics, paper, and ink—to convey the core content of the text.
The book design content covered in this book still pertains to the traditional sense of mass-market books, which are paper-based products made from paper, ink, and printing. For students of graphic design in the art and design major, the purpose of studying and researching book design is to clarify the fundamental principles of book design, understand its history, its composition, and the trends of modern book design. They should master the general principles, characteristics, and creative methods of book design, conduct comprehensive training in book design by combining printing technology and layout design principles, and focus on the authenticity of the content while learning editing design techniques to enhance their practical design skills. This is our teaching requirement.
